Integrated Wellness Strategies
Debra S Trasati, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Adolescent
Adolescents with untreated symptoms of anxiety, inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and subsequent mood and behavioral dysregulation can struggle academically, socially, and emotionally. A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation with a client-centered, family-driven, strength-based approach to treatment can help to facilitate resiliency and optimal functioning across their domains.
Adult
Entering adulthood is an exciting time filled with major transitions as an individual plans and pursues their life goals. While these years are often greatly anticipated, the stressors of learning independence, managing college expectations and, oftentimes, leaving their closest support system can trigger significant symptoms of anxiety and depression. Sometimes long-standing symptoms of anxiety, depression, inattention, and mood instability can be more difficult to manage during these major transitions, impairing academic, social, occupational functioning and general feelings of well-being. Appropriate treatment can mitigate these symptoms and facilitate recovery and resiliency.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Some presentations of autism are not obvious to those outside the close family or friend circle. Sometimes it is not apparent to teachers or even behavioral health providers and evaluators. Children and adolescents with this type of “high-functioning autism spectrum disorder” are often misunderstood and subsequently misdiagnosed. They are treated for ADHD, social anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar learning disorders and while many have a co-occurring diagnosis of ADHD, anxiety, etc., the ASD is never appropriately diagnosed. Why is this so important? Because once we have identified the ASD, the entire paradigm of treatment changes. Debra Trasati uses a collaborative, integrated treatment approach, supporting the individual and their loved ones on their healing journey. She developed a model which starts with a comprehensive evaluation from which a treatment plan is developed.
Coaching
We are pleased to offer a variety of coaching options. Our coaching services include Collaborative Caregiver Coaching to empower parents and caretakers of individuals with high-functioning autism or ADHD with practical tools and strategies. We also offer Community-Based Life and Social Skills coaching for individuals with high functioning autism, social anxiety, and related challenges who are looking to build confidence and practice their skills in the community.
Practice Philosophy
It is my tenet that we are spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional beings created to be in meaningful relationships. Accordingly, I embrace a holistic, integrated, collaborative approach to promoting wellness. This translates into comprehensive diagnostic assessment identifying areas of challenge, but more importantly identifying areas of strength and inherent protective factors.
